Trash and Recycling

American Disposal Services provides trash and recycling services for Windsor Park. The pickup schedule is:

  • Trash: Tuesday and Friday mornings
  • Recycling: Friday mornings

All items should be to the curb by 6:00AM on the day of pickup but not earlier than 6:00PM on the evening before.

Holidays

Trash and recycling will not be picked up on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years

Containers

Curbside trash should be placed in sealed containers that are animal resistant.  Recycling should be placed in containers designated for recycling, or in clear plastic bags (to eliminate confusion about whether bag contains trash or recycling).  Trash and recycling should be secured in the container so animals and/or windy conditions don’t cause trash to be strewn about.  Should this happen, please gather strewn items as quickly as possible.

Trash

Household waste only.  No construction or remodeling waste.  No household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas, antifreeze, corrosive chemicals, ammunition, etc).  Most hazardous waste items can be disposed of at the Fairfax County I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax).

Recycling

Acceptable: Newspapers, magazines, aluminum and steel cans, and clean plastic containers.

Unacceptable: plastic bags, containers used for insecticides, herbicides, petroleum products or automotive fluids.  Plastic bags can be recycled at most grocery stores.

Glass: Glass containers should be disposed of in one of the purple recycling containers that are located throughout Fairfax County.  Glass should not be placed in curbside recycling bins.  See https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/publicworks/recycling-trash/glass

Yard Debris

Leaves must be bagged; brush and limbs must be bagged or tied in bundles less than 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length.

Bulk Items

Items such as appliances, furniture, etc., will be picked up by appointment only.  Call American Disposal Customer Service (703-368-0500) to schedule a pickup.  Bulk items can also be disposed of at the I-66 Transfer Station (see above).
